How to Setup Using a Custom Domain Name with your AirPOS e-commerce Webstore
There are two options for setting up an e-commerce Webstore on your own domain.
Let’s say that your domain name is newshop.com
- The first way is to have your AirPOS e-commerce Webstore appear when you browse to the examples below.
- The second way is to have your own website appear when you browse to newshop.com, but have your AirPOS e-commerce Webstore appear when you browse to shop.newshop.com as in the example below.
If you want to use newshop.com for your e-commerce Webstore, in your domain host’s DNS control panel you must add a CNAME. All you need to do here is enter the name of your AirPOS e-commerce domain (e.g. newshop.airposwebstore.com) in the Destination or Domain field.
If you want to use shop.newshop.com for your e-commerce Webstore, in your domain host’s DNS control panel you must add a CNAME, but here you should enter “shop” in the Name field, and then enter the name of your AirPOS e-commerce Webstore domain (e.g. newshop.airposwebstore.com) in the Destination or Domain field.
Because your DNS settings affects the functioning of your e-commerce site and your domain’s email, if you aren’t sure quite how to do this, please contact your domain host’s support team who will be able to set this up for you very quickly.
Once your domain is configured, please let us know which domain name you’ve chosen to use (e.g. newshop.com or shop.newshop.com, etc..) and we will finalise the process on our servers.
Exact instructions vary across domain name providers, which is one of the reasons we would need you to contact us. If you let us know who you’ve registered the domain with we can provide more detailed instructions.
Please email us at the address below for final setup completion when you have completed the steps above…
NB: It can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 24 hours for the changes to percolate down to your website.
